The Girl Next Door

So I have been trying to bleed out my hair for ages in order to go silver/grey. As you know, purple is my favourite colour and I love love love it. However, the upkeep was tedious and the colour always faded into blue and green tones. So I decided to go silver for a fresh new look!

Now, before going from purple to silver you need to bleed out the colour. For this you will need anti dandruff shampoo (any brand) vitamin C powder (or crush up some Vit C tablets) and something to put moisture back into your hair (this process will really dry your hair out from washing it). I also got a shampoo for red head to counter act the green to help shift it as well, but I only used a tablespoon.
The shampoo should look a little something like this; grey/green nasty and lumpy. Trust me, wet your hair, whack it on, wrap in cling-film and wait for 1-2 hours, wetting it and lathering every few minutes before washing it out.
You’ll need the colour to be a really light mint green for it to go anywhere near a silver colour. After a few washes mine turned out a purple/green combo and the purple just would not shift!!
In the end I used Colour B4 (the strongest one) on just the purple to give it an extra kick. Left it on for an hour and this was the minty result:
Note: your hair will STINK FOR DAYS if you use Colour B4. I washed it 3 times and still stank but if you’re changing to silver, the process will get rid of that.

So I booked my appointment went on a Thursday (half colour on Thursdays) at my favourite salon Sugar Skull Studios; they are in Maidstone and are honestly amazing.

They do 50% off new clients fyi!!

The staff are wonderful and so easy to talk to, which is good if you’re there for a long time (I was there 7 hours and they let me get McDonalds!). They didn't just whack on bleach and see what happens, they gently lifted it each time, washed it, deep conditioned, toned, toned again, dried and cut my hair!! It was a long process but honestly worth it. My hair feels so strong and the colour is exactly how I wanted it, couldn't ask for more. The girl who did my hair, Zoe, was so determined to get what I wanted since purple hair is such a nuisance to get out. She was very attentive, friendly and funny; it was like having my hair done by a best friend, which is exactly the experience I want when I'm having so much done.
So this is the end result. I would recommend this salon to anyone looking for a new image and an excellent service every time. Their website is here.
So Luke has been a dear friend of mine for a while, so we had an entire weekend to celebrate his birthday! Luke loves going up London (as do I) so we decided to go from Brick Lane to Oxford Circus, looking in every vintage shop we could find; trust me, there's bloody loads of em. I wore my trusty MOM jeans and my new white Vans since I knew we'd be walking everywhere. We stopped off in one of Luke's favourite cafes so I could give him his birthday present (A StarLord Mug and Peanut Hottie drink).

As always, Luke and I were hungry, so we ventured to Shoreditch and had breakfast at Cereal Killer Cafe.

For those of you who don't know, Cereal Killer is a cafe that exclusively serves cereal. Yup. That's it. Except its cereal from all around the world and they make combos to create delectable creations; from Unicorn Poop to Cinnamon Crunch, (heck you can even make up a combo with your choice of flavoured milk!) it was definitely an experience I would recommend. I even had a PB&J Pop Tart while I was there. The staff were all bubbly and fun which is always a plus for me, it can get a bit busy but there's window stalls and a downstairs to chill out.
Now, I'm a sucker for great food and vintage markets. Luckily, Brick Lane has a butt load. I didn't get many photos since the majority of people don't like photos in their stores but I sneakily managed to get a few shots while walking about.
~We didn't buy much there but Luke bought a hat (hes so cute when he giggles)~
~And I picked up a shirt which I'll use more like a light denim jacket~
Nearing the end of the day our tummys were rumbling again and we were craving a chill out and few drinks, so we went to probably one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while: MEAT LIQUOR.
Serves what it says, meat and booze. Luke had been there before so ordered us both the Dead Hippie Burger (weird right?) it had 2 juicy burgers, cheese, a few leaves and Hippie Sauce. Now, what's Hippie Sauce I hear you ask? Dunno. All I know is that it is devine. It's almost like burger sauce but 100000 times better. They even do the chips with all the works including the magic sauce. My fries were delightful and smothered in cheese (naturally) and I easily finished every morsel, completely satisfied afterwards.
We came home and collapsed on our beds absolutely knackered and I couldn't wait to get into my comfys. Sunday Luke I didn't really get dressed, watching films all day. The only time we did move is when we went out with his family for a meal at Chaquitos (Can't spell) having more meat and booze. I dragged a dress from my wardrobe I hadn't worn in a while since it was the perfect combo of smart-casual.
Luke and I had an awesome time just hanging out with each other as always, hope he had an amazing Birthday. Love you Lukey~xoxox

Autumn Oak Review

Now I have my dyed hair, I am always worried employers wont like it (stupid I know but some companies don't like unnatural hair). So, I did the reverse of what I did with my Pink Grunge wig; hide the purple, appear natural. I am a big fan of Geisha Wigs as I know I will get good quality and colour. With this ombre wig, the colours go all the way through instead of block colours, making it look realistic. I wasn't so sure at first since I have never had a full fringe before, but people were surprised when they found out it wasn't my real hair!

Geisha Wigs is an online shop I found on Instagram, they look amazing and are a decent price. I was really nervous at first, thinking it would look and feel like a wig. I couldn't have been more wrong! The wigs are heat resistant up to 180C so can be styled reasonably well. Shine can be taken out of the wing with dry shampoo (I recommend doing this with bright coloured wigs). Very light on my head and well put together but if you have longer hair, get a wig cap to avoid any hair spoilage. You can find all the Geisha Wig styles here.

I actually wore this wig on my first day at a new job since I wasn't sure how they would react to my purple hair. Halfway through the day they asked me to take off the wig and decided to let me keep the purple! The customers love it and so does everyone in my store. However, if you have dyed hair and worried what companies may think, I strongly recommend geisha wigs as an alternative so they have no excuse not to hire you based on hair colour!

Pink Grunge Review

When I had my blonde Ombre hair, I missed the pink I had so much that I decided to get a wig. Geisha Wigs is an online shop I found on Instagram and they looked amazing and at a decent price. The first one I bought was this long pink one. It's dusty pink on top, with a candy floss colour on the bottom. I was really nervous at first, thinking it would look and feel like a wig.

I couldn't have been more wrong! I posted photos online and people complimented my hair, almost afraid to disappoint them saying it was a wig! The wigs are heat resistant up to 180C so can be styled reasonably well. Shine can be taken out of the wing with dry shampoo (I recommend doing this with bright coloured wigs). I loved the feeling of this one and felt really witchy too. Very light on my head and well put together. You can find all the Geisha Wig styles here.

I have been really into green and healthy food lately, and this is no exception; BBQ chicken wrap with fresh tomato, low fat mozzarella, salad and grilled asparagus. YUM!!

Ingredients:
  • Packet of fajita BBQ mix and 1 cup of water (I use the water to make it a little saucy but this step is optional)
  • Chicken breast cut into chunks
  • Everything else! Salads leaves, tomato, salsa, peppers etc whatever your taste buds fancy
Follow the instructions on the packet of season mix and cook the chicken through, add the water if you like a little sauce. For the asparagus, you simply put a little bit of Olive Oil in a pan, turn up the heat so the pan is scorching hot. Chuck in the asparagus and season with salt and pepper to taste. These should only take about 10 minutes to cook (I like mine with a slight crunch (which is why I don't tend to boil them). Stick everything in your wrap folding the bottom half up so all that goodness doesn't fall out.

Top Tip: I always warm my wraps on a low heat in the oven covered with foil, so they're all soft and easier to bend for optimum wrapping

So the main problem of purple hair is the blue tones in it. In order to get rid of these blue tones I decided to try adding a dollop of pink into the mix. And by jove it worked! I went from silvery dull blueish patchy, to wonderfully purple in literally a day!

Basically, get your hair light enough without bleaching it by washing your hair with anti-dandruff shampoo and crushed vitamin C tablets (or vitamin C powder if you're lazy and rich enough to spend £3.65 on powder!). Remember to wet your hair prior so its ready for lathering. Just mix the ingredients into a weird paste and lather like you would any other shampoo (let no strand be unlatherd) once you've done that put your hair up using a clip and drape a towel over your shoulders so the colour wont bleed onto your clothes and its easier to wipe away colour that bleeds down your face. Leave this for an hour or so then rinse out your hair. Do this 2 or 3 times depending on how stubborn the dye is.

Top Tip: if you're thinking of doing your hair a colour similar to that in its palette (pink, blue, purple, red tones) then start washing your hair a couple of days prior to the vitamin C treatment

After I was satisfied with the discolouration, I added my pre-made dye (see other hair dye post) and added a tablespoon of the Cerise colour with Argan Oil and loads of white conditioner, when I was happy with the colour I left it on for 10-15 minutes as the dye is quite bright and strong and I wanted to overlay the blue and pinker tones to get the purple. This has created a tonal colour I am very happy with.
